About

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Dan grew up in River Rouge, Trenton and Flushing. Summer jobs in steel mills and on lake freighters involved him intimately with the industrial side of the Midwest, while his college studies in geology, art and the humanities inform his communication in art concepts, processes and technology. He taught art in Traverse City for thirty-two years at both elementary and high school levels and for twenty-two years served as the art department chair of Traverse City Area Public Schools.

In 2006 he retired from teaching to focus on his own art. Dan has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Art Education from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in Humanities from Central Michigan University. His post-graduate studies include work at Cranbrook Art Institute and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Dan's work is in collections around the world and across the US.

He now creates art out of his studio and home in Leland, Michigan.
